Do You Want Love Advice From the Duggar Kids?

By  |

The Duggars have some more advice for you.

Jana (24), Jill (22), Jessa (21), and Jinger (20), the oldest of the 65 Duggar children, have a thrilling new book out about relationships. In the book they explain the difference between dating and courtship, and why they believe it is important to get to know how young men they are interested in react in “normal family settings. “We want to get acquainted with a young man in a normal family setting, where we’ll be watching how he treats our brothers and sisters,” they write. “We want to see how he reacts to normal family events, such as Josie accidentally spilling her milk in his lap, Jackson unintentionally ruining his board game or Joseph trouncing him in a basketball match.” Jessa even talks about her courting phase with boyfriend Ben. Mom Michelle pipes in: “She and Ben are open to encourage others who may be considering relationships that you can stay morally pure and wait for the one God has for you and then on your wedding day, begin the physical aspects of your relationship.” So basically they are holding off on any petting (including kissing with an open or closed mouth) until wedding night. You think TLC will set up a honeymoon suite cam just like The Bachelor?

Because your kids would read a book about love in the 21st century written by four girls who have permed hair down to their waist, wear ankle length jean skirts, and no makeup.

I am trying to imagine myself giving out relationship advice at their age. First issue out of the gate was that I never wanted to bring dudes back to my house for one very specific reason: my stepfather rarely wore pants. He urinated with the door open. He farted when it suited him, which was often. Since he pretended he was an actual Korean War veteran (which we later proved was a lie) he hated anyone Asian. My mom would remind him frequently how on the day of his death she had planned to throw a party in the backyard. You think it would be easy getting a guy on board with that? Jessa wants to see how Ben reacts to her sister spilling milk in his lap. I would have been worried my stepfather’s penis wasn’t falling out of his robe.
